Tyson is another big contributor. They fall behind cargill as the 2nd largest US privately owned corporation. They started during the Great Depression in 1935 in Springfield Arkansas when John W Tyson moved his family there for new opportunities. There he found thousands of chickens and began delivering them to the Midwest. He incorporated it in 1947 as Tyson Feed and Hatchery, Inc. and began selling baby chicks, feed, and the transportation of chickens to market. Ever since then his company was slowly gaining more and more popularity, and in 1963 John’s son decided to make the company public.
